About Mrs. Anderson & Her Lodging House

Catherine Anderson, her husband Hans, and two young daughters moved to Leavenworth with the arrival of the Great Northern Railway Company in 1892. Mrs. Anderson first operated a restaurant on Front Street, losing the business in the disastrous Thanksgiving Day fire of 1896, which destroyed most of Leavenworth’s commercial district.

The Anderson Hotel was purchased by Crystal (West) Brisky from Alfred Anderson in July 1946. While continuing to operate as the Anderson Hotel, Mrs. Brisky also provided comfortable space for elderly borders and the hotels unofficial name became the “Elderager” for a number of years.

With the re-birth of Leavenworth in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the building was renamed the Crystal Hotel which it remained until Mrs. Brisky’s death at the age of 81 in October, 1988.

Under new ownerhsip, Mrs Anderson’s was renovated with an attempt to bring you back in time with our rustic inspired rooms. But don’t worry we made sure to add the WIFI, flat screen T.V.s, Keurigs and more. Mrs. Anderson’s Lodging House, is now the oldest commercial wood frame building in Leavenworth and THE OLDEST HOTEL IN LEAVENWORTH!

All you need to spend a cozy night at Leavenworth! Staff was friendly, check-in/out was contactless and the rooms looked clean. Biggest Pro: Location! Walking distance to everything. Only con: Pillows were really bad, not supportive at all. We would recommend: • Making sure your room has a private bathroom, unless you’re ok with sharing - Apparently, shared bathrooms are a thing with older hotels • Getting a room with a balcony - It’s not huge but spacious enough to sit outside while sharing a meal and taking in the mountain views • If you’re visiting during the holidays, make sure to book ahead or be prepared to spend about $315 per night

Pros: location was great, it's right in the middle of town. Staff was friendly, and the room had a homey feel to it with a nice view of the town, fairly priced. Cons: bed was hard and uncomfortable, had a shared bathroom with another room, parking spot was covered in snow made it hard to get in and out.

We got the cheapest hotel room in Leavenworth at $70 plus taxes on a Thursday night. Room 6 is a small room with a queen bed and a small but clean shower bathroom with sliding pocket door, sink outside the bathroom. Carpeted floor was vacuumed. No stinky air "freshener". The coffee maker needed a descaling so it didn't work, and nobody answer or returned our call, but we figured out how to get the TV to work and what do you expect with covid and shops going out of business? The mattress was comfortably firm. Most important, we special requested this via Booking.com and somehow it miraculously did happen. We could hear people talking on the street because there was a screen with no insulation and a thin plastic barrier on both sides of the fan in the window. The window didn't open ( otherwise this would get a five star review) and we we tried the (loud) fan, so the claustrophobe took a walk instead. Also most importantly the heat works well which we needed after an 18 mile all-day hike on ice & through snow. Self check-in, check-out and parking were straightforward.

Loved our stay here. We were in room 1 and it is delightful. Clean with rustic farmhouse decor. The patio outside facing the mountain and quiet street was also a lovely surprise (shared with room 2), also perfect location. It’s very well prices and has everything you need in a hotel room. I would absolutely recommend a stay here!
